My RR's almost done!

Almost completed! Haven't decided yet what I want outlining the blocks. I plan to do that once I have everyone's square completed. I'm looking forward to stitching on everyone's linens. I am so thankful to have made new friends thru this round robin and I hope everyone will be happy with my stitching. I know what I want to stitch for Cheryl, Edgar, and Janice, haven't decided what to choose for Lizzy and Lesley.

I leave for band camp on Thursday, so I'm unsure if I'll have access to check my blogs. I hope so, but don't know.

I'll work more on my block tonight. See you tomorrow!

Weekend RR work

I have almost finished the center design. I charted out a couple of different things and finally decided on the hearts with initials and the title in the middle. I have tried one shade of red for the doors and was not happy so I pulled that out. I will try another tonight.

I think I will add the dates to either end of the piece then start on the border, Hope everyone had a great weekend!!!

Quick update

Just a quick post to let you know where I've got to. This is how my RR looks now -

I'm not going to be able to stitch on it any more just now as I'll be away on holiday for 2 weeks from tomorrow. Sometime during these 2 weeks, I will post it on to Janice. When I come back I'll be looking forward to getting my hands on Cheryl's!

I finally got a start on my square

I finally just sat down and got started on my square. I am using a modified "Peace an Plenty." It had so many things that I like including, houses, trees, and a fall reference with the apples. I think that I have "tacked" out the squares and have been calling it "griding." Let me ask this question...is "griding" when actual cross stitch's enclose the square and not a removable thread? I am just asking so that I can call things by there right name. But, I have just tacked out the squares so that each stitcher can add their own border to their individual needle worked square. I think that the stitched frame/border is so often an integral part of the finished piece that I did not want to inhibit the creative flow of the needle.... :)
Sorry about the wonky way it looks. I was running around like a crazy person this morning and when I took the picture I thought it was straight. I did change the colours of the houses. In fact I changed them twice. I tried the cream that was recommended and that was just too lite on the fabric, then I tried a light blue and that was not right. So after trying and then picking these two tries out I chose and went with this darker blue.

Take care,
edgar

My update!

Edited: Added new picture! I'll hopefully have more to post later tonight!

It's looking good! I'm very happy with it so far, I had to stitch only one of the trees beside the bridge, I was afraid it would look to mushed together, so I left one of them out so it could fit in the square.

My hubby is moaning about how quickly the weekend has come and gone. I know I'll be fussing myself in a couple of weeks. The summer is almost over, we go back to school on Aug.13th. I do go back to work the week of the 1st of August to get the kitchen ready at our school.

Till later,

Diane Williams Emailed Us!

Just a quick note, Diane Williams of LittleHouse Needleworks emailed me letting us know she was happy that we were using her patterns! She wants to follow our round robin, so I've added her link to the blog page, so we can keep up with her new designs and all.
I was honoured that she took the time out to email us! Just wanted you all to know! I'm almost finished with one of the trees, the bridge is done, and the fish! Yeah! Will post picture tomorrow!

Progress at last

Now that I've made a little progress, I thought I'd post and let you know where I've got to!

This week I finished gridding. It's not stitched properly as I'll think about borders when it arrives back with me, but I've tacked the outlines of each square in the grid. I'd quite like to adapt the border for 'Through the Woods' to go round all the squares. My fabric is very long and thin as I'm going for a bellpull type layout. It's a Zweigart fabric in Wedgewood blue which is a beautiful colour.

I've also made a start on my square which is an amended version of 'Through the Woods'. I've made a little more progress since I took the photo below (there is a house now).

I've been tossing ideas for various themes around in my head and haven't come to any real concludion. I started out thinking of a House theme, but wasn't entirely happy with it. Then I thought of a Sun, Moon and Stars theme, but I'm not sure there are enough design featuring suns, moons, and/or stars, and anyway I think it excludes one or two of my favourite designs (eg. Hannah Purington). So I think I'm heading back to the House theme, but if you include sun, moon and/or stars, all the better!

I won't be able to stitch on this after next week as I'll be away on holiday for two weeks. I may have to post it at the end of next week too, as I'm not sure that I'll be leaving enough postage time if I wait until I'm back from holiday (although next week seems faaar too soon). I'll think about it! lol

Update on gridding/linen.

Happy dance for me. I finished my gridding. I stitched my name and a bear today. I am using Pinetop Lodge for my pattern. I love the bear with the fish in his mouth. My bear is hungry, I couldn't find the floss color in my bag at the dentist's office, so still need to add the fish.

Hope everyone is coming along with their linens. I'm trying to get mine completed before band camp. We leave on July 26th.

Off to hunt for fish colors.

Post your likes and I'll add them!

I have looked into seeing how to add ya'll to be able to comment on the side. I don't know how to do it. So just post a comment what you all want or like on your linen, then I'll add it to the side bar. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

ps: gridding is coming along slowly! It's half way done!

My linen has arrived!

Here it is, I started laying out the squares last night. I figure I've got a ton more stitches to put in! I wasn't sure about the linen color, but now I have grown to love it!

Hope everyone is moving along with their round robins. I know I need to have mine finished by July 26. That's when Jacob and I leave for band camp. So, stitch little fingers, stitch!

Enjoy the weekend!

Quick update....

Well, I finished the griding last night. I have left room around the outside and between the sections to run a border. The border will be a modified one from a LHN pattern that includes oak leaves. I think that I would like for this to have a tree theme to it, any tree or tree derivative that you can come with will work. I originally had thought about other themes but found there where lots of animals and trees in lots of the patterns. I have also left enough room around the sections so that if 100 x 100 is just a wee small there is room for a few extra stitches. I am sorry that it looks pretty boring right now. The linen is Wichelt, Lambs Wool. The picture is pretty dark, sorry about that.
I will start on my section and border this weekend, or at least that is the plan. :)

Take care,

I've got my linen and started to grid.....

Hi everyone,
I got my linen, called Lambswool, and am now in the process of griding it out, it does take quite a while. I have been on vacation in South Dakota for the past couple of weeks, so I feel that I have fallen behind in so many areas........... Although we were there a good 11 days we were very busy trying to see and do as much as possible, there is still way too much that we didn't do. If you ever get the chance try and get there. It is such a pretty part of the country. Here is one of the many pics I took. This one is in Custer State Park, showing a part of a herd of buffalo just wandering around and across the road. We had to stop and wait for them to all pass by as they have the right of way, and they are WAY bigger than the cars and can do a heap of damage if they charge!!!
I will post a a more appropriate picture of the project when I finish the grid.

Take care,
edgar

Progress so far

Hi everyone! Just thought i'd share my progress so far. I've finished gridding the basic outline of my RR (yeah!) and started stitching my square which is LHN's Daisy Lane Cottage.
