Edgar's RR
Hi everyone! I finished working on Edgar's RR at the weekend. I used about 4 LHN charts to put this square together. I hope you like it Edgar! Half way now! I'll be sending it on to Lesley this week. Edgar's RR
Edgar's RR has arrived and im looking forward to stitching on it! I received it from Donna yesterday. I couldn't get a good picture of it but this is a real beauty. I love how he has stitched all our initials in hearts across the middle. I think Lizzy wanted to see a picture of the whole piece. Sorry about the poor picture, it's so dull here today i just couldn't get good light

Progress
I thought it was well past time that I gave you an update on where things are with me. I'm afraid I'm running a bit behind at the moment - I haven't quite finished Cheryl's RR yet. The pic below was taken before I did a bit more stitching on it last night.
I love the colour in this design and thought it would stand out nicely on Cheryl's fabric.
I seem to be able to make fantastic progress at weekends, but struggle at the moment during the week. I'm hoping it will be all done within the next week or so and then on to Janice. Sorry, Janice for the delay. The main reason for the delay was that I wasn't feeling well during part of August and September so didn't get a lot of stitching done then. I'm almost back to nornal now, so it will be easier not to let myself get caught out again!
I also had a surprise from the postman yesterday as Donna's RR arrived. Donna - your fabric is gorgeous! I've had to make a real effort to restrain myself and not get out my charts and start my planning until I've finished stitching on Cheryl's!

Donna's RR finished
I know i'm way ahead on the RR but i just wanted to work on this until it was finished to get it off my mind as i have a few deadlines before the end of the year and i would like to do some Christmasy Stitching for myself and my family at some point too. So i just worked on this until it was done. It's an adapted version of "The counting house" and i hope Donna likes it. I really enjoyed stitching this one. Here's how it looks overall

Update on Lizzy's RR
Here is a snap of Lizzy's RR. I had a visit from the evil frog on Saturday and this is actually the second house to rise on this linen. I was not paying attention and had added a row to the top and side AND the entire thing was over a single stitch. So out that came and in its place is the corrected version.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Donna's RR
Here's how Donna's RR is looking so far! I know it's not due for posting for ages yet but im keen to get it finished so that i can work on some other things without this being at the back on my mind so ive been stitching on this a lot recently. I am using LHN's (obviously!) "The Counting House." I hope you like it so far Donna!
Lizzy's RR Arrived
Hi Lizzy,
Your RR has arrived in perfect condition. The linen you are using is really lovely!!!! I've already charted out my name and SF, I will be doing Savannah. My fathers family has been in Savannah since the 1730's so I feel a certain pull to that particular chart. I'll post a picture on Tuesday, as we are off on Monday.
Take care,
edgar

Lizzy's Dear Diary Themed RR...
Hi Everyone...
I finally got my RR finished and posted off to Edgar...
Dear Diary Series by Little House Needleworks...
Abigail Winslow...
Stitched on 28ct R&R Iced Cappuccino...
With DMC and WDW threads...
I'll add the border to my RR when it comes back home to me... I just couldn't make up my mind which one I wanted to use... Although I did decide on a colour... I'll be using Crescent Colours Almost Auburn ... I couldn't decide where I wanted to put my signature crow/blackbird... you know I just have to add him to everything I stitch... ;-) I may add him under *Lizzy* ... who knows? So I left off my last name for now... I'll have plenty of time to decide what to do whilst you all are stitching on it! :-)

How is everyone doing?
Update on Edgar's RR, I'm getting ready to add a snowman next! I hope you like what I'm gonna do for you!
Lizzy, how are you doing? Haven't heard and was hoping everything is fine and you are not sick! I'm so glad for the extra time, hope everyone is enjoying that.
What's everyone doing for Labor day? We have a memorial dinner to honor John's dad. He passed away 3 years ago. We miss you James! Jason sure could use you now! Grandaddy James was a welder. Jason's taking welding this year at school.
Have a great week everyone!

New timeframe for everyone!
I've sent everyone a email concerning our stitching time frame. I feel we would best be served to have a 8 week time frame instead of 6. I hope that is alright with everyone. Due to a problem mailing overseas, I want to have plenty of mailing time in addition to stitching time. So email me with any questions or concerns!
I so want everyone to have an enjoyable experience with the rr.
BTW,
I have one tree done on your linen Edgar! Wahoo!

In the Post......
Hey Ladies,
I have posted my RR to Donna via Priority Mail so it should be there in the next few days. My Plan was to use UPS but changed my mind at the last second as I needed to work a bit more on the piece before I let go......
Thank you for all the nice things everybody said about my piece, it really means a lot to me as I haven't really been stitching all that long. I have included a short letter about me and my stitching to go along with the RR. I can't wait to get started on yours Lizzy.
Take care,
edgar

Cheryl's update
I will be posting my RR off (first class) to Lesley tomorrow or Tuesday. We have so many postal strikes here at the moment that i have no idea how long UK post is taking these days so posting sooner rather than later is probably best.
I won't have my square finished but i never really planned to anyway. Here is where im up to with it so far. It's LHN's Daisy Lane Cottage. Im hoping to finish the roof and the front door before it leaves me on its round the world tour!
Donna i am looking forward to receiving yours!

The border is coming along
I started working the border for the HF RR and think I am really liking the oak leaf and acorn corner motif. I also have added a squirrel. I want to get as much of this done so that I can get this in the UPS system tomorrow so that Donna can get it before the 12th.
Here is a close up of the border. This will run around the entire piece.
Take care,

My RR's almost done!
Almost completed! Haven't decided yet what I want outlining the blocks. I plan to do that once I have everyone's square completed. I'm looking forward to stitching on everyone's linens. I am so thankful to have made new friends thru this round robin and I hope everyone will be happy with my stitching. I know what I want to stitch for Cheryl, Edgar, and Janice, haven't decided what to choose for Lizzy and Lesley.
I leave for band camp on Thursday, so I'm unsure if I'll have access to check my blogs. I hope so, but don't know.
I'll work more on my block tonight. See you tomorrow!
Donna
Weekend RR work
I have almost finished the center design. I charted out a couple of different things and finally decided on the hearts with initials and the title in the middle. I have tried one shade of red for the doors and was not happy so I pulled that out. I will try another tonight.
I think I will add the dates to either end of the piece then start on the border, Hope everyone had a great weekend!!!

Quick update
Just a quick post to let you know where I've got to. This is how my RR looks now -
I'm not going to be able to stitch on it any more just now as I'll be away on holiday for 2 weeks from tomorrow. Sometime during these 2 weeks, I will post it on to Janice. When I come back I'll be looking forward to getting my hands on Cheryl's!

I finally got a start on my square
I finally just sat down and got started on my square. I am using a modified "Peace an Plenty." It had so many things that I like including, houses, trees, and a fall reference with the apples. I think that I have "tacked" out the squares and have been calling it "griding." Let me ask this question...is "griding" when actual cross stitch's enclose the square and not a removable thread? I am just asking so that I can call things by there right name. But, I have just tacked out the squares so that each stitcher can add their own border to their individual needle worked square. I think that the stitched frame/border is so often an integral part of the finished piece that I did not want to inhibit the creative flow of the needle.... :)
Sorry about the wonky way it looks. I was running around like a crazy person this morning and when I took the picture I thought it was straight. I did change the colours of the houses. In fact I changed them twice. I tried the cream that was recommended and that was just too lite on the fabric, then I tried a light blue and that was not right. So after trying and then picking these two tries out I chose and went with this darker blue.
Take care,
edgar

My update!
Edited: Added new picture! I'll hopefully have more to post later tonight!
It's looking good! I'm very happy with it so far, I had to stitch only one of the trees beside the bridge, I was afraid it would look to mushed together, so I left one of them out so it could fit in the square.
My hubby is moaning about how quickly the weekend has come and gone. I know I'll be fussing myself in a couple of weeks. The summer is almost over, we go back to school on Aug.13th. I do go back to work the week of the 1st of August to get the kitchen ready at our school.
Till later,
Donna

Diane Williams Emailed Us!
Just a quick note, Diane Williams of LittleHouse Needleworks emailed me letting us know she was happy that we were using her patterns! She wants to follow our round robin, so I've added her link to the blog page, so we can keep up with her new designs and all.
I was honoured that she took the time out to email us! Just wanted you all to know! I'm almost finished with one of the trees, the bridge is done, and the fish! Yeah! Will post picture tomorrow!

Progress at last
Now that I've made a little progress, I thought I'd post and let you know where I've got to!
This week I finished gridding. It's not stitched properly as I'll think about borders when it arrives back with me, but I've tacked the outlines of each square in the grid. I'd quite like to adapt the border for 'Through the Woods' to go round all the squares. My fabric is very long and thin as I'm going for a bellpull type layout. It's a Zweigart fabric in Wedgewood blue which is a beautiful colour.
I've also made a start on my square which is an amended version of 'Through the Woods'. I've made a little more progress since I took the photo below (there is a house now).
I've been tossing ideas for various themes around in my head and haven't come to any real concludion. I started out thinking of a House theme, but wasn't entirely happy with it. Then I thought of a Sun, Moon and Stars theme, but I'm not sure there are enough design featuring suns, moons, and/or stars, and anyway I think it excludes one or two of my favourite designs (eg. Hannah Purington). So I think I'm heading back to the House theme, but if you include sun, moon and/or stars, all the better!
I won't be able to stitch on this after next week as I'll be away on holiday for two weeks. I may have to post it at the end of next week too, as I'm not sure that I'll be leaving enough postage time if I wait until I'm back from holiday (although next week seems faaar too soon). I'll think about it! lol

Update on gridding/linen.
Happy dance for me. I finished my gridding. I stitched my name and a bear today. I am using Pinetop Lodge for my pattern. I love the bear with the fish in his mouth. My bear is hungry, I couldn't find the floss color in my bag at the dentist's office, so still need to add the fish.
Hope everyone is coming along with their linens. I'm trying to get mine completed before band camp. We leave on July 26th.
Off to hunt for fish colors.

Post your likes and I'll add them!
I have looked into seeing how to add ya'll to be able to comment on the side. I don't know how to do it. So just post a comment what you all want or like on your linen, then I'll add it to the side bar. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

My linen has arrived!
Here it is, I started laying out the squares last night. I figure I've got a ton more stitches to put in! I wasn't sure about the linen color, but now I have grown to love it!
Hope everyone is moving along with their round robins. I know I need to have mine finished by July 26. That's when Jacob and I leave for band camp. So, stitch little fingers, stitch!
Enjoy the weekend!

Quick update....
Well, I finished the griding last night. I have left room around the outside and between the sections to run a border. The border will be a modified one from a LHN pattern that includes oak leaves. I think that I would like for this to have a tree theme to it, any tree or tree derivative that you can come with will work. I originally had thought about other themes but found there where lots of animals and trees in lots of the patterns. I have also left enough room around the sections so that if 100 x 100 is just a wee small there is room for a few extra stitches. I am sorry that it looks pretty boring right now. The linen is Wichelt, Lambs Wool. The picture is pretty dark, sorry about that.
I will start on my section and border this weekend, or at least that is the plan. :)
Take care,
edgar

I've got my linen and started to grid.....
Hi everyone,
I got my linen, called Lambswool, and am now in the process of griding it out, it does take quite a while. I have been on vacation in South Dakota for the past couple of weeks, so I feel that I have fallen behind in so many areas........... Although we were there a good 11 days we were very busy trying to see and do as much as possible, there is still way too much that we didn't do. If you ever get the chance try and get there. It is such a pretty part of the country. Here is one of the many pics I took. This one is in Custer State Park, showing a part of a herd of buffalo just wandering around and across the road. We had to stop and wait for them to all pass by as they have the right of way, and they are WAY bigger than the cars and can do a heap of damage if they charge!!!
I will post a a more appropriate picture of the project when I finish the grid.
Take care,
edgar

Progress so far
Hi everyone! Just thought i'd share my progress so far. I've finished gridding the basic outline of my RR (yeah!) and started stitching my square which is LHN's Daisy Lane Cottage.
Thursday, June 28, 2007
Ive started!
Hi Everyone! I've started the gridding. Its a drag but it'll be worth it! What i will say is don't underestimate how long this takes, it has taken me quite a while. Probably because im cross stitching the outer border. I could have left this 'til the end but i figured i'd just do it now. Anyway, please don't panic if you haven't started...im really busy in July and away for a week as well so i really had to get going early!

Got my linen ordered!
Now I just need to wait on it. Hope it gets here by Friday or Saturday by the latest. I've got alot of catching up to do. Cheryl is way ahead of me! haha
Two more days then I get my bonus check from work, I hate to say, I'll be spending most of it on Band camp, but there are a couple of things that are calling my name from Mary Kathryn's shop. I can't wait. I ordered African Daisy, it's a hand dyed 28 count jobelan. It looked pretty online, so I'm hoping that it looks pretty in person.
Well, Jason wants the computer back! Have a wonderful day everyone!

I'm thinking about the Pinetop Lodge Pattern for me.
I hate to say it, but I'm a country girl at heart. I love cabins, outdoorsy stuff, I use to camp with my Boy Scouts in my Troop, I'm a leader, I've been taking a break from camping though. Too hot!
I want everyone to use their best judgement on the patterns you choose for my squares. I will also be adding a very small motif that means me in all of your squares, not big, just something that shows Donna was here. I'm hoping to be using 28 count hand dyed African Daisy for my linen. I sure hope my LNS has it in, if not I'll be ordering on Tuesday. My LNS is closed on Mondays, so I'll be shopping on Tuesday. I love the Stars and Stripes pattern also, oh heck, I love all her patterns. Chomping at the bit to get started!

A few questions... and an idea or two...
Hi everyone... :-) I'm Lizzy from North Carolina... It's lovely to be here and I'm looking forward to our RR...
I ordered my fabby yesterday... I'll be using Maple Sugar by Lakeside Linens... Cashel {28ct}... I ordered a stitcher's fat half ... So, if I've calculated correctly... that should be enough. :-)
Have you all come up with any ideas, or decided on what you are going to stitch? I've been thinking about what to stitch for the RR and what LHN designs will fit nicely into the 100 x 100 squares... In looking, I found there aren't a lot of designs that will fit nicely without leaving a lot of blank space or going over just a wee bit... unless we take bits and pieces from several LHN designs and fill in the blanks... sort of like a Neighbourhood RR...
Anyway, in my search... I found the Dear Diary Series to be approx 97 to 105 stitches by 70 stitches or so... So that got me to thinking... Yes, dangerous, I know! ;-) Anyway, I think I'm going to go with the Dear Diary Series... there are eight of them and I could stitch the extra two when I get my RR back, as I would want to have the entire Series on one piece of fabby... I had been intending to stitch them all on one piece of fabby one day... so this will be a great opportunity! :-) Anyway, if lay out my squares two across and four down this will be approx 210 wide by 280 height give or take a few stitches... I'll have to make sure of the size of all the patterns before I grid my fabby... but anyway if I lay them out this way, they will all fit nicely on the stitcher's fat half with plenty of room left for framing... :-) I also thought you all could stitch your name and city, state or country in place of the name and town that is on the chart... A free alphabet comes with the designs... So, you all can personalise each chart... all you would have to do is look at the alphabet and chart out your name and place to fit instead of the name and place on the chart... Am I making any sense? :-) I'll have to order all the charts as I don't have any of them yet... Oh, and since I will have to stitch three of my squares... I've picked out Abigail Winslow, Hannah Purrington and I think Lucy Fairchild... I'll let you all know for sure and send *working copies* of the charts I am not going to stitch and you can choose whichever one you'd like to stitch... If you have any preference, please let me know and I'll reserve that particular Dear Diary Chart for you... :-)

Dear Diary Series ... Abigail Winslow
by Little House Needleworks
Oh, and I think I'll only stitch one of the Dear Diary charts before posting... and then stitch my other two when I get my RR back as I don't think I'll have time to stitch three of them before posting... I fear I am more the Tortoise than the Hare just now and I have a few other stitchy projects on the go as well! :-)
Please let me know what you all think about this idea and I'd love to hear what you all are planning on stitching! :-)
Thank you Donna for organising this RR... :-) I am really looking forward to stitching on everyone's Robin...
Love in Stitches...

Let's Get Ready To Start!
Hi to Cheryl, Janice, Lizzy, Lesley and Edgar! I hope everyone is ready! I know Edgar is still on vacation! Lizzy, I still need your snail mail address. I will be sending everyone an email later tonight concerning rules and info for our round robin.
We are stitching on 28 count linen. We are using LHN patterns. Whatever color of linen is your choice! Please grid out 6 squares (100x100) on your linen! Please make sure you post on the side of the blog whether you want hoop or no hoop when we are stitching on your piece! July 1st is the start date, that means you have 6 weeks. Make sure you plan your time include mailing to the next stitcher on your list! We do have 2 international stitchers in our group! Scotland and Britain.
I'm very excited that this is starting and I hope to become close friends with everyone!
Thank you for signing up for my first ever round robin!

Ready to start....well, nearly
Hi everyone! My linen arrived this morning and im thinking about starting the outline for my piece. I'm going away on holiday for a week in July (i volunteer at a kids camp every summer - not really a holiday LOL) and this is why i thought i might get going sooner rather than later. Anyway, i'm not looking forward to laying out the squares but hopefully it'll be okay! I was looking at the Neighbourhood Round Robin blog for some ideas and thought i'd post the link in case any of you haven't seen it. You can find it here
Im looking forward to our RR! Hope you are too and thank-you Donna for organising it!
I couldn't get my head around the layout so i did a quick sketch! You'll think im crazy LOL. Here it is anyway
I plan on doing a nice pattern down the two vertical sides (probably at the end of the RR). What do you think?Im looking forward to our RR! Hope you are too and thank-you Donna for organising it!

We have all our stitchers!
We now have 6 stitchers who will participate in our Round Robin! Thank you to Cheryl, Janice, Lesley, Lizzy, Edgar and Me. I have been working on getting the welcome letter and stitching order completed. I will get it sent out to everyone most likely tomorrow evening. My nieces leave today, so I won't have alot of time to get the rr info in order.
I am very thrilled to be your rr team captain. I hope the everyone will have a great time stitching and getting to know everyone better.
We are using LHN patterns, we are using 28 count linen, whatever color you desire your piece to be. When you grid your piece of linen, make sure you have 6 gridded squares. 100 x 100 square design size. Well, that's all for now, I'll send everyone more info tomorrow.
Welcome again and let's get ready to rumble!!!!!!(Stitch)

Let's Vote for 28 count!
I'm alright with changing to 28 count, what do you think everyone? I hate to say I've never stitched a LHN design before so did not even know what the typical stitch count was. I'm thinking that 28 count might be better for the poor eyes. Everyone please have a say! This is your Round robin!

A question
Hello to All of the Round Robin participants!
I read the last post concerning the size of the grid and the thread count to be used. Since most of the Little House Designs are done on 28 count, is that a possibility for our use? Are you all planning to use 32 count then? I may need to change my mind on this but will check under my magnifier tonight after the sun goes down and see how it looks. I stopped using 32 count about 2 years ago and haven't used it since I started to use the magnification.
So please, LMK, if you will all be on 32 count and I will check-out my situation tonight.
Stay in Stitches,
Janice

Little House Needlework patterns used!
Just so everyone is clear on the patterns. Little House Needleworks is the winner. Square size will be 100 x 100. That means your design should fit instead this square. Right now I have the following who are doing the round robin-Donna(me), Cheryl, Janice, Edgar and maybe Anna. If Anna doesn't join this round then the size will be 400 x 400. If she does join then we will go with the design space of 600 x 600. We will have one extra space available for either another stitcher or if we don't pick up another stitcher, we can all add another house to our linen sampler when it travels back to us.
Please make sure when you mail your linen to the next person on your list that you send it signature delivery confirmation. I know it will cost an extra dollar or two, but I think it will be the safest way to ensure the next stitcher gets the linen piece, Cheryl, I'm not sure if in Scotland they do signature delivery, so if they don't don't worry! I know you will send it.
Please grid your linen(32 count) whatever color you desire into 100x100 squares, there should be4 or 6 squares on your linen. Stitch your house design on one of the squares, make sure you add your name somewhere on your design. Then when you finished then you will send it to the next person on the list. Once I know everyone is participating I will send everyone a email with the list and addresses of everyone who is doing the round robin and the order of the round robin. Sound ok?
Alrighty then!

Are we excited Yet!
I can't wait to get started. Guys, do you think we should start off with a smaller round robin with only 4 stitchers or should we go with 6. I know we have 3 committed, Edgar is interested, waiting to hear back from him. I am so into doing LNS. Everyone else seems to be right on track with LNS, I know Mary Kathryn over at Handicrafts has been awesome answering my questions. I'm gonna order my patterns from her. She is the greatest. For my birthday I'm hoping to get the Blackbird book Needles and Threads from her shop.
I'm thankful to meet new friends here and to make an awesome gift for myself!

Houses Theme keeps popping up!
I really like the house theme, as does Tanya. I need to start looking for a few house designs that I'd like to use. I'm hoping to have enough interest to start the round robin July 1st. That's my brother's birthday. Good day to start!
More tomorrow!

Welcome To Heartfelt Friends!
This is a round robin for new and old friends! I am excited to be hosting this round robin. I am new to round robins, so I am open to hints to make this process easy. We will be voting on our round robin theme! I want suggestions. I love the houses that I've seen, there are all kinds to choose from, holiday themes, flowers, houses, designers. I am partial to LHN, CHN, Blackbird designs, I really love all different kinds of stitching designs. My poor wallet! haha
I love this material that you see below. It's a shame that all I have is a 12" square of it!
Enough rambling for now!
Welcome!
